Pre-birth preparation with acupuncture

I offer weekly acupuncture appointments from 34 weeks to help you prepare physically and emotionally for birth.

These appointments are an opportunity for you to benefit from my many years of midwifery experience as you consider the imminent arrival of your baby.

Acupuncture at this point has been shown to reduce the duration of labour and the rate of medical intervention.

Induction of labour

Acupuncture and acupressure can also be beneficial if you have been advised to have an induction of labour.

Please contact me to arrange a conversation about how I may be able to support you.

Moxibustion for a breech baby

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese therapy using mugwort (a herb) in a compressed charcoal stick used as a heat source to stimulate the acupuncture points.

There is evidence that moxibustion can be helpful in encouraging a breech baby to turn into a head first position.

I usually like to see clients between 33-35 weeks, however I regularly see babies turn later than this.

The RCOG have information about moxibustion in their patient information leaflet Breech baby at the end of pregnancy. View it here.
